Sestriere
A Mountain of Emotions!
The ski resort of Sestriere is the highest destination of the fantastic Vialattea ski area, 212 slopes (7 green, 67 blue, 97 red and 41 black) and 72 ski lifts all connected between Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Pragelato, Claviere and the French Montgenèvre.
Sestriere is renowned above all as a winter sports venue: a permanent fixture of the Alpine Ski World Cup, it hosted the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1997. In February 2006, Sestriere was one of the venues for the XX Olympic Winter Games and the IX Paralympic Winter Games for which it hosted the Alpine Skiing competitions. It also hosted from 23 May to 5 June 2010 the pre-World Cup retreat of the Italian national football team to get the players used to the climate and altitude that they would find in South Africa during the World Cup and for those who love the mountains in summer and golf, it offers an 18-hole golf course where you can participate in competitions or practice for those just starting out.
For your evenings, you have a wide choice of pubs and the 'Tabata' disco, or you can opt for a good movie at the cinema or take a nice walk through the centre of Sestriere.
